In case you didn't know, I own this site. I'm not very involved anymore, but I definitely want to see H1 continue. I thought that pwnall.com might become the new destination for H1 fans, but it seems like there's already a split between xbc noobs (at pwnall) and the hardcore LAN players (here at mbgaming). Correct me if I'm wrong.

So here's what I'm thinking and I would like feedback from all of you as to whether or not you think it's a good idea.

1. Rearrange forums to cater to Halo 1 including regional forums for arranging LANs and a general discussion area. All forums pertaining to other games and subjects will be combined into one forum at the bottom of the list. Post up if you have suggestions for forum topics.

2. New mods recruited, probably the ones who host lans most often. Or if you want to volunteer, reply here or send me a PM.

3. Google ads incorporated into the site to support it financially. Probably won't make much money, but right now I just pay for the site out of my pocket and this would subsidize the cost. I'll try to keep them out of your way so it's not annoying and distracting.

I had posted this in the "News" forum but hardly anyone looked at it. I've moved it over here to the Halo 1 forum hoping to get some more activity before I go ahead with making changes.

There has been one member that's asked to be a mod. Any other volunteers are welcome.

Here's what I'm thinking for a new forum layout. Please respond with yay or nay.

Board Forum - hidden for mods and admins only

News and Rules - same as current

Halo
LAN & Tournament forum
XBC forum
Tips, Tricks, and Strats forum
Modded Maps and Consoles forum
Video forum
MLG forum
Smack Talk forum

Everything Else

I like the layout your thinking of minus splitting it into regional lan sub threads. The reason I wouldnt do that is because i really enjoy logging onto mbgaming and just seeing everything the h1 guys are talking about from everywhere in one single h1 forum. It makes me feel like that is the reason why this forum is my major H1 "station" to get news out or chat with other h1 kids.

P.S. Thanks for being awesome Madman and paying for this forum so we got a spot to chat about h1 and plan lans.

I agree. The less clicks I have to do to see all the H1 stuff going on the better.

I'd say put as many adds as you want that will help you fund this badass site. I'll click adds to give money to a site that brings H1 lan conversations to us.

If you need mods, I'll help out. I already am a mod on MLG, and it looks a lot more loose here with the rules and stuff.

I'm pretty much cool with whatever and if you don't want to do adds to pay for the site I will be happy to take over the payments to keep it "PURE"

I agree... I'll leave all the LAN threads together.

I'll see what I can do. I haven't updated the software that runs the site in a long time because I don't want to break it and I'll need to do that before I can do anything with the themes. I'll try to put some time into it over the holidays.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll mod for you as well, if you'd like. Also, I don't think i've ever thanked you for starting and maintaining this site, it's been a huge part of us keeping Halo 1 alive around here. Thanks a bunch, bro. If I ever see you in person I owe you a beer or 24.

Maybe at all the tourneys and LANs we can all just pitch a little also to help out whoever is paying to keep the site up? Like a tax? but one we actually get something back......

Thanks madman for making this site possible! It has kept Halo alive for me over the years. Smile I'm down with whatever. I use the site solely for H1-related activities. Adds wouldn't bother me. A little "tax" wouldn't bother me either. Just as long as mbgaming is around when I'm 80 years old playing xbc in a nursing home. Laughing

I'm sure you've noticed, but the forum layout has been changed to cater to Halo CE almost exclusively.

We have also added 3 new mods:

Yogi
NoSkillz
Gawdsend

I have also enabled Google ads and a Google search of the site in case you want to dig up some old tourney info.

Let us know if you like or dislike the new forum layout.
